BRIDGE CONVENTION CARD EDITOR (CCE)
Frequently Asked Questions
Version 1.1.29May 23, 2016
History
"Convention Card Editor" (CCE) is Freeware that lets you fill-in ACBL Convention cards, print them, and save them. It runs on Microsoft Windows (XP, 7, 8, and 10), uses standard Windows menus, and works well with computers set to "Large Fonts" as well as to "Normal Fonts". CCE is easy to use, does many things for you automatically, and includes additional features if you want to use them.
INSTALLING CCE
Installing programs in Windows usually requires an account with Administrator privileges.
USING CCE
- To start CCE:
- If you used Quick Install, double-click the "Convention Card Editor" icon on your Desktop. If there's no icon, click the Windows "Start" button, click "All Programs", find the "Convention Card Editor" folder, and click "Convention Card Editor."
- If you downloaded the ZIP and extracted the files to a folder, find that folder and double-click "ConventionCardEditor.exe"
- If CCE cannot start, please see the suggestions in Installing CCE, above.
- The first time you start CCE, it will display its "Help" summary. Please read at least a little of it, then press the 'Esc' key to close HELP. To see it again, click "Help" on CCE's Menu bar.
- Click on the "File" and "Options" menus to see what they contain. Press "Esc" to close menus.
- To fill in a card, click on checkboxes and card leads to make the marks, click on existing marks to remove them, and click on text lines where you want to type or change something. When you're done, use the FILE menu to save and print the card.
- The Up and Down arrow keys move the card on-screen, and so does the wheel of a wheel-mouse. "Help" explains other ways to move around the card.
- "Printer Setup" lets you select and configure your printer, if necessary. Printed cards always are about 8 inches square.
- "Save As" lets you keep variations of your cards without having to start each one from scratch. It's a convenient way to change an existing card for use with another partner.
- The OPTIONS menu lets you change the on-screen card size, the font size, store your name and ACBL ID number, and, if necessary, use an alternate method of printing your cards.
- If the ACBL changes the card layout in the future, you can adjust CCE to use the new layout without revising any of your existing cards.
REPORTING PROBLEMS and "HOW TO..."
- First, please check built-in HELP (F1) and the on-line FAQ for common solutions. They actually answer the questions people have asked.
- Please send an email to support (at) conventioncardeditor.com, explaining what happened and what version of Windows you are using. Please note that the ACBL cannot provide support for CCE.
